Liberal arts major vs. Writing major?

i'm college freshman @ qcc (queens borough community college) i'm mot sure want major in decided liberal arts major. wanted know if career started associated degree in liberal arts or if it's wastes of time. writing/journalism think if being liberal arts major dosen't work out switch writing major. i'm planning transfer 4 year school after graduate @ qcc bachelors degree advice?
