What kind of boat is this?

i'm trying buy day cruiser boat (see avatar photo) owner isn't sure kind is. think it's 1977 , says it's "birchcraft" can't find record of such company. specs:
- open bow
- v-hull
- jet engine
- 21 feet long give or take bit
- hull green red stripe may have been painted after-market.

ideas?
