Good Performing Arts High Schools in NY?

assuming question in 7th grade , applying/auditioning next fall following school year (2011-2012). if 8th grader applying right in supplementary round school year 2010-2011, options more limited!

but, presuming in 7th grade, here choices in performing arts:

laguardia - best choice, hardest into. doesn't go on list of schools. listed on same paper, separate choice, because it's "specialized school" , such has separate application procedure. if laguardia, notified month earlier, in february. when acceptance, offered choice of laguardia or school got "list of 12 schools". daughter offered choice of laguardia or frank sinatra past february. had listed sinatra first choice , had applied laguardia. allowed choose 1 wanted - time can after being accepted, , if specialized school. chose laguardia, still thinks sinatra great school!

sinatra - well, it's wonderful place. it's got lovely new building, , academics good, in addition first rate arts instruction. it's small, compared laguardia. that's both , bad. it's in terms of school being nice, supportive environment. not have many choices in terms of classes, particularly in academic classes.

, here performing arts schools know less about, because daughter didn't apply there (she going fine art, , these schools performing arts. laguardia , sinatra both offer fine art , performing art.) here other schools recommend:

talent unlimited

edward r. murrow high school - murrow takes kids brooklyn, can't apply here if don't live in brooklyn. it's not strictly speaking, performing arts school, has strong performing arts programming , can apply arts programs through audition, arts high school. daughter did apply here, , love school! it's not everyone.

professional performing arts - know daughter goes here , loves it!

brooklyn high school of arts - school feel iffy including on list of recommended schools. wouldn't let daughter apply here because felt academics weren't strong enough. arts education great, it's safe, nice school, , faculty care students.

know isn't 8 schools, may have put safety schools on list. otherwise, might end thousands of kids did not high school placements in first round , forced submit applications leftover schools in supplementary round.
