Best places to live if you work in downtown manhattan?
depends on whether or not there's convenient transportation work. , there deals in each area. i'm guessing want closer city , off path or nyc subway, alternatives (toward north) might include parts of westchester county new york (mamaroneck, etc.) , sw connecticut (like stamford) - can save major money on rent, keep car, , commute grand central on metro north railroad in 30-45 minutes in many cases (then add 20 minutes commute downtown). check out commuteplan comparing train schedule info (mostly on metro north railroad):

i'm in 20's, moving upstate ny, looking safe, value neighborhood live in, commute downtown manhattan thats reasonable, , public transit available. i've looked @ hoboken, i've heard expensive upper west side. other suggestions?
