New printer problem?????????

it's common problem of canon mp 140, problem cartridges instead of driver. can try following trouble shooting procedures:
1) turn on printer; take out old used cartridges
2) turn off printer few minutes
3) turn on printer, when says "insert inks", , insert compatible cartridges 1 one, making sure inks sitting in slots.
if procedure fail work, can try clean head of cartridges , update driver of printer.

has 1 else had problem? ive got mp140 canon printer, ive installed driver , printer can not b reconised. ive got windows 7on machine, should install straight away? b problem canon printer? b greatful help!!x
