yes, can go college it. college (brigham young university) offers it: bachelor of arts degree in family history (same thing genealogy).

did google search , came several other places go.
vermont college of union institute , university, distance-learning program, offers custom-designed b. a. or m.a. in family history.
heritage genealogical college (based in salt lake city) offers combination of onsite , online classes leading two-year , four-year degrees in family history/genealogy.
university of toronto has two-year program offers professional learning certificate in genealogical studies.

can certified "professional genealogist" doing program based in d.c. (www.bcgcertification.org), or doing program based in salt lake (international commission accreditation of professional genealogists (icapgen), www.icapgen.org.)

i want know if genealogy real profession can go college or hobby?
