2005 volkswagen jetta problems?

hello all,

have 2005 vw jetta, ive been having problems car since battery died. changed battery, using keep constant electrical supply car, , since ive noticed car shifts hard 3rd 4th gears. jetta automatic. taken dealer , said nothing came report codes...and restored orginal codes did not fix problem. last week driving home , car started stutter, set on cruise control @ 65, , proceeded die on side of road. turned car off , proceeded keep stuttering , problems shifting. have no idea wrong im taking dealer later week. wanted outside opinion...thanks :)
