SURVEY: Tool or Dream Theater?

don't tool. guess bit biased since listened 3 of songs, sound same (vicarious, schism, parabola). aren't catchy or pleasant ear...to me they're songs showing off technical ability , leaving musicality afterthought.

dream theater lot better, though @ times suffer technicality overtaking musicality , feel. have lots of catchy songs pull me under, take time, day, never enough, am, , others. however, they're trying metal-y. never metal, or pure "prog" either, more "art-y" rock. they're trying metal systematic chaos , new album black clouds , silver linings. octavarium decent attempt @ metal sound, older stuff better.

so, opinions? if tool, have catchy songs recommend?
