birtish saw in india during time of imperialism. rich recourses , large labor force. east india trading co. set british (and among other imperialistic powers) take advantage of resources in europe, india, , new world. mughal dynasty controlled india @ time. company set trading posts in bombay, calcutta, , madras. east india trading co. set queen elizabeth in 1600s. 1700 mughal in decline , there no effective central power. east india expanded trade , political power. @ battle of plassey in 1757, english defeated mughal governor. historians regard start of british empire in india. on next few hundred years british laid there laws on indian people taxes, parlamient, , monoply of trade. in 1857 there sepoy rebellion. rebellion of india's finest military men direct body guards ruler of india. british put down rebellion , after had complete control on india through it's military , politics.
