Should Mercedes-Benz eliminate the C-class, and GLK-class vehicles from their model lineup?


mean company has long history of producing exclusive luxury saloons wealthy , financially well-off, long admirable racing heritage. day produce cars compete against bentley, ferrari, lamborghini, maserati , , models remain exclusive, yet c-class introduced 20 years ago compete in sporty near-luxury category dominated bmw 3-series made mercedes mark more attainable average joe, lowering prestige of mercedes brand in general. think it's appropriate bmw have cars in segment since bmw has history of making small, sporty upscale-but-not-quite-luxo cars, should mercedes-benz eliminate c-class or c-class derivative glk suv lineup in order restore diminished brand image in america?

jaguar tried similar tactic increase sales introducing x-type u.s. market compete in sporty near-luxury category, has since eliminated model lineup , focus on models maintain exclusivity , brand image. should mercedes follow jaguar's example?

record, think near-luxury segment important segment , works great bmw , audi, vw, infiniti , lexus compete in, attract younger sports-oriented buyers, brand mercedes big expensive luxury cars , exclusive sports cars/ roadsters it's not fitting brand image.
