Printer not recognising new ink cartridges?

hi all, have bought new ( compatable ) ink cartridges , printer seems not recognise them..? have gone through user guide , installed them correctly, printer tries allign printer heads , prints out faded allignment sheet, asks me place on scanner, say,s ' cannot find allignment sheet' ..? printere hp photosmart c4200 advice gratefull for...
