25 mile commute to college a bad or good idea?

i'm transferring university of maryland: baltimore county next fall. don't have many friends go there. friend goes towson, 25 miles away, asked me room him in apartment outside of campus. both connected interstate 695 , can easy 25 minute drive. city of baltimore in between these 2 campuses though , traffic can heavy. drive prius not worried fuel cost, time constraining issues. have personal experience or thoughts me make decision?
