Why wont my printer work?!?

okay have hp psc 1350 (printer, scanner, copier,) , every time try print says printing, doesnt anything. know printer hooked right, , when turn off , on sheet *for best result follow these instructions* or whatever prints off. , know @ least have black ink, , wont have colored ink , still work. help!!!
