Is poetry an underappreciated literary form?

can't stand free-verse poetry seems have no point. appreciate skill of well-timed poetry, rhythm , flow. love ogden nash's poetry, because it's humorous , tells story.

girl, or 1 of boys,
scarlet on avoirdupois,
red, boiled; obstetrician
have possibly been lobstertrician?
degrees , credentials hunky-dory,
how's infantile inventory?
here's prodigy, here's miracle!
whether head oval or spherical,
rejoice find has one,
having dreaded two-headed daughter or son;
here's phenomenon complete,
it's got 2 hands, it's got 2 feet,
natural, pleasing, because
months have dreamed of flippers or claws.
furthermore, equipped:
fingers , toes nails tipped;
it's got eyes, , mouth clear cut;
when mouth comes open eyes go shut,
when eyes go shut, breath loosed
, presence of lungs can deduced.
let rockets flash , cannon thunder,
child marvel, matchless wonder.
staggering child, child astounding,
dazzling, diaperless, dumbfounding,
stupendous, miraculous, unsurpassed,
child stagger , flabbergast,
bright button, sharp thorn,
, perfect 1 ever born.
