Do clothing designers ever copy each others designs?

oh, yes !
but, when "caught", call "inspiration" ;-)

1 comes across such news items [accompanied respective photos] every once in while designer claims his/her creation has been plagiarized - whether it's design, pattern, colors, fabric, texture, style, ... & go court.
of course, top designers make news. lesser known ones don't count.

, if entire creation hasn't been "copied", there elements & ideas taken each other or past designers, past heritage, other cultures, etc. why think designers collect books on fashion [which guard zealously, btw] - easy tinker around, or mix & match & voila! have 'new' creation ;-) , reason "fashions return"
