Accounting - General Journal Entries (transactions)?

i'm taking accounting class & right i'm doing major project entering transactions general journal. i'm having hard time w/ few. questions are:

1. according 2 of listed transactions in text book i'm not sure whether enter both transaction. how it's listed in text. accounting experience know i'm talking about.
nov. 13 - received notification alex's engineering co. success systems' bid of $7000 upcoming project accepted
nov. 24 - completed work alex's engineering co. , sent bill $7000

2. on next 2 transaction i'm thinking enter both transactions b/c it's different months i'm not sure.
oct. 28 - billed clark company $7300 services performed
nov. 18 - received $5000 cash clark company partial payment of oct 28 bill
nov. 25 - sent bill clark company past-due amount of $2,300

thank & hope can me understand little better. if needs additional information please let me know.
