Turbo on 06 mazda mx5?
ls1: no, cars not "doing away with" manuals automatics, because not automatics. twin clutch or dsg gearbox not automatic, it's automated twin shaft manual. has electrohydraulically actuated pair of clutches, , true manual operation, done automatically. there no torque converter, no bands, no clutch packs. has gears, shift forks, no synchros (computers don't need them, can shift smooth dog rings), , twin input shafts rotate within 1 another. transmission in mx5 automatic, not dsg/twin shaft.
turbo question: unless racing on autocross, mx5 didn't beat mustang gt's or 350z's, mx5 has 170hp , weighs 2500lbs, , run 1/4 mile in high 14s. mustang gt 1999 turn 13.80s manual, 14.20s automatic. current gt's run 13.30s manual, 13.70s auto. mx5 not keep that. have 1 header, not multiple headers.
stock, car on dyno makes 130-140whp. dyno have of 1 put 2007 mx5 manual @ 129whp, 113ft-lb. installed tomei exhaust (+5hp , 3ft-lb), tomei 4-2-1 header (+11hp , 6ft-lb) , racing beat intake (+2hp , 2ft-lb), gaining, in total, 18whp , 11ft-lb, making total of 147whp , 124ft-lb. in 2500lb car plus driver, that's not going enough beat either of cars mentioned. turbos, there couple out now, best 1 (from can see) company called begi (bell engineering), $4700 tuning , fuel taken care of, , makes (on manual) 268whp on pump gas. make less automatic 20-30whp, still quick. if me, i'd sell auto, buy manual car , buy turbo.
i have 06 mazda mx5 automatic. put magnaflow cat-back exhaust, racing beat headers, , fujita cai. how many hp did gain? stock 158 hp. turbo work well? no turbo beat 350z , mustang gts. should next upgrade?
