Suggestions on a photography book for novices?

i'm looking "photography dummies" (tho i'm sure there 1 title) type of book teach me basics. i've enjoying photography never taken class , know next nothing. have 6-month-old son, i'd have little more knowledge since i've got camera in face practically 24/7. there book can recommend goes through basics in in-depth way (oxymoron?) can understood total beginner?
