Skin fell off of wound??? Please help!?

mom accidentally slice finger while cutting meat , got 5 stitches on forefinger on left hand. after got stitches out 10 days, put in steri-strips , fell off. wound didn't close , today month when cut herself skin folds on cut fell off , can see pink skin on inside. put neosporin , band-aid on it. should do? dangerous? new skin grow out?? please help! thanks! i'm worried her.
