Will a - in website adress hurt seo and traffic?

since desperate traffic, suggest change domain & not use dash.. suppose dont have domain available without dash.. cannot remember website dash successfull when comes numbers..

also, dash in domain dont mind customers not logging on websites.. of food products etc.. sell products / services offline rather online :-)

if @ put domain dash, you'll wondering if dont have traffic dash thats causing problems..
.net 1 above me said not productive .com

providing service, information of dogs free of cost, learn make decisions on own :-)

for example if put www.ilove-dogs.com vs www.ilovedogs.net better seo , traffic?
