Painting a bathroom ceiling...pain peeling!?

hi,
painting bathroom, after undercoating woodwork decided paint ceiling , have bought suitbale matt paint bathrooms.
started going round light fitting etc, moved onto going around fan (before started rolling rest) put paint peeled - around edges, paint has come off in big chunks , looks awful - think must damp fan? looks paint has peeled off right original ceiling surface.
should do? (last shower on 12 hours ago, did not think being problem)
can fixed???????? appreciarte advice!
