Can's Install Network Printer. Specified Port Is Unknown?

1. go control panel
2. underneath hardware , sound category, click on printer
3. click on add printer top menu
4. click on add local printer
5. choose create new port type of port remaining local port, click next
6. in port name box type path printer wish connect , click ok

ex. \\mycomputer\myprinter

if computer wish connect named bob , printer called hp path \\bob\hp

7. in install printer driver screen, select printer list or choose have disk , find location of printer drivers on computer click next , click finish.
8. should see printer installed in printers window.
9. right-click on printer , click properties
10. on general tab, click print test page test printer.

should able printer windows vista networked printer problems.

i have vista home premium laptop , trying connect dell aio 924 on xp home desktop. when click network printer add it, says "windows cannot connect printer. specified port unknown." how fix this?
