Why did those people have to die in the Toyota with the gas pedal?

have been hearing lot pedal defect in toyota cars? how company plans fix , hoohaw. 1 thing not hearing why people died. why didn't @ 911 center tell victim throw car in neutral or reverse? cars stall if thrown in reverse. there option of putting car in neutral, although your're destroy engine. fact rather have destroyed engine on losing life. haven't heard on news how servive situation. please , if find in position throw car in neutral or reverse, dont turn ignition off. if risk losing power steering , control of vehicle. if know other ways survive situation(other not buying toyota...lol) please post here. thanks.
