Is there a way to use only a key (not remote) to unlock and start subaru legacy '02?

bought used subaru legacy '02. find keyless entry annoying since i'm used unlocking key , prefer not have remote me time. first time unlocked car key started honking , wouldn't let me start car until unlock button on remote pressed. there way permanently disable feature? i'd rather use key.
