math:
bmw - 8.81 pounds per hp
subaru - 11.02 pounds per hp

both cars running 6 speed manual transmissions, , considering subie's wheel drive positive dead stop, subaru can't in short "drag." after all, bmw has on third more horsepower. notice however, subaru (just) wins torque battle against larger bmw v8 engine. why bmw have little "twist?" drag closer weight / power numbers make look.

on twisty track, things change. half mile isn't on road course; let's consider 2.25 miles -- 'half track' @ mmp, run car (full course 4.5 miles, two-thirds mile front straight). we're talking 12 corners, of them real tight. heavier, higher center of gravity bmw going wallow through these compared flat engine subaru. i'm not sure how long on course take, lighter, nimbler subaru boulevard cruiser bmw.

let's consider top gear track, elongated figure eight, 4 big straights ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/top_gear_te... . see subaru wrx sti listed here @ 1:28.2, besides 1 @ on 1:30 (the bmw - sti difference less 3 seconds.) course geared power, straights. difference between particular bmw / driver / tires / day tested , particular sti / driver / tires / day big deal -- big track configuration.

Air Canada - how normal is this?

i'm in 20's , outraged @ moment, maybe i'm being naive, please me out. here situation: booked trip las vegas months ago air canada , paid $314.32 on credit card return flight. cancelled week later , told can't refund anything, amount "credit". call few days ago book 1 way ticket halifax. i'm told charged $105 "change fees" ($50 each way) cancelling/re-booking flight. notice not deducted $314.32 paid, charged on top of that, have $419.32 on credit card. $105 obvious cash grab , sort of penalty, put aside. issue flight halifax cost $202 including taxes. if deduct $202 $314.32, leaves $112.32 unaccounted for. make sense far? because when on phone air canada asking them confirm this, couldn't. agent kept repeating fares , taxes different blah blah, wouldn't tell me what, if have left on "credit". kept asking him explain, rude , said did. i'm wondering: 1. airlines charges these stupid "change fees"
