Best basic photography book?

if you're looking complete, comprehensive book on basic digital photography i'd highly recommend:

"how photograph absolutely everything: successful pictures digital camera" tom ang.

own several books on photography, have helpful. never gets technical (this helps if camera own isn't slr, has many tips composition , lighting), still incredibly helpful in how approach different types of subjects right eye.

i've been looking @ few photography books want have few opinions on "best". i've tried teach myself photography because i've learned way, doing. guess want step photography.
