Is there any type of financial assistance for those without children?

yes chris there is.
cannot answer every state, in general there assistance housing, shelters, utility bills, food (food panties, or food stamps), job placement assistance. @ least in home state , few others know of. more difficult males assistance females (children or not) however, every state have safety net of sorts set up. have found in assisting clients more dire need, more quicker results, ie being homeless. agencies people not social service agencies local charitable organizations, ie catholic social services, ymca, ywca, , few. if find in predicament call local "community center" or community health center" these types of organizations set assist people in need.
