International Relations - business or history?

friend of mine wants study international relations in university. @ beginning of our ib course , studying business 1 of higher subjects. people seem think study ir need study history @ higher level, friend not doing. questions waaas: should switch on history, or remain business studies? cause has choose 1 or other, cant both. yeah, appreciated.
