How do I replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch in a 1991 Volkswagen Jetta?

own bentley manual well, have no idea start. used friends car gave me in mid repair gave because not figure out how pull out part threw steering wheel on , got towed house , gave me.
need because not mechanically inclined , figured manual me too.
seriously, car needs, , battery, free too. love running before more things happen due sitting.
