Painting over exterior metal lap siding?

here plan of action painting metal siding.

1) clean siding tsp , scrub brush.
2) let dry day or so.
3) sand places peeling or chipping smooth , wipe down clean.
4) prime exterior oil base primer contains no ammonia.
5) paint exterior latex paint.

does have experience painting metal lap siding on exterior of house? not paint aluminum siding. have wants me paint it..... if has experience let me know, otherwise i'm going replace , right way.
