Thinking about beginning sculpturing... and then doll sculpturing...?

ok, i'm inspired these hard working artists make realistic dolls. want start long project of acquiring skills. (i'm going take take school's sculpture class next year aid me in journey) questions are:

- types of clay there (their different purposes)? , type of clay used make doll?

- heard need wire before begin slabbing clay down. kind of wire, how thick, etc?

- other tools? (to details of sculpturing, etc.)

-a basic process?

i'm willing take on, 1 step @ time, please don't @ me don't know i'm trying take on.
