My car has blown 3 subs, whats going wrong? NEED CAR AUDIO EXPERT!?
have 1998 chevy lumina, , inherited volfenhag 12" in enclosed plexy glass box, 500w alpine amp. volfenhag duel coiled or whatever, wire inside box, going actual sub, 2 wires merge 1 fat wire.
okay had friend, whom trust dearly car audio installations, install indash me (its part of car audio installation have trouble with) , installed subs , amp.
after finished, throbbed hard felt nose bleed coming on. driving down road bumping feeling badass, 5 minutes down road sub cut out , smelled smoke. knew happened , devistated. popped trunk , expectantly saw brand new sub smoking.
went home , piddled around , got work, volume 8 (which barely audible) , sub cut out. i'm guessing it's half blown.
here's story turns drastic, bought pioneer 12" shallow mount (yeah..i know..) , put in box , wired up...but since not duel coiled or whatever, had wire wires inside box sub funky. but, worked fine , surprisingly loud.
i'm driving down road , 5 minutes later...you guessed it! smelled smoke, sh*t pants , bit tongue till made home.
same conclusion, half blown - in theory.
have slightest clue what's going on? there wiring fault somewhere? didn't have of subs turned remotely loud, , amp eq'd low-mid, not high have to blow sub.
i'm buy 12" rockford fosgate punch, , want can make sure doesnt suffer same fate, i'm researching can before install it.
have thought paying $100 professional installation in hopes fix whatever ailment wiring has suffered, if that's problem.
have suggestions?
