What's the pitot static system in the aircraft?

pitot-static system combined system utilizes static air pressure, , dynamic pressure due motion of aircraft through air. these combined pressures utilized operation of airspeed indicator (asi), altimeter, , vertical speed indicator (vsi).
pitot tube utilized measure total combined pressures present when aircraft moves through air. static pressure, known ambient pressure, present whether aircraft moving or @ rest. barometric pressure in local area. dynamic pressure present when aircraft in motion; therefore, can thought of pressure due motion. wind generates dynamic pressure. not matter if aircraft moving through still air @ 70 knots or if aircraft facing wind speed of 70 knots, same dynamic pressure generated.
when wind blows angle less 90° off nose of aircraft, dynamic pressure can depicted on asi. wind moving across airfoil @ 20 knots same aircraft moving through calm air @ 20 knots. pitot tube captures dynamic pressure, static pressure present.
pitot tube has small opening @ front allows total pressure enter pressure chamber. total pressure made of dynamic pressure plus static pressure. in addition larger hole in front of pitot tube, there small hole in of chamber allows moisture drain system should aircraft enter precipitation. both openings in pitot tube need checked prior flight insure neither blocked. many aircraft have pitot tube covers installed when sit extended periods of time. helps keep bugs , other objects becoming lodged in opening of pitot tube.
1 instrument utilizes pitot tube asi. total pressure transmitted asi pitot tube’s pressure chamber via small tube. static pressure delivered opposite side of asi serves cancel out 2 static pressures, thereby leaving dynamic pressure indicated on instrument. when dynamic pressure changes, asi shows either increase or decrease, corresponding direction of change. 2 remaining instruments (altimeter , vsi) utilize static pressure derived static port.

static chamber vented through small holes free undisturbed air on side(s) of aircraft. atmospheric pressure changes, pressure able move freely in , out of instruments through small lines connect instruments static system. alternate static source provided in aircraft provide static pressure should primary static source become blocked. alternate static source found inside of flight deck. due venturi effect of air flowing around fuselage, air pressure inside flight deck lower exterior pressure.when alternate static source pressure used, following instrument indications observed:
1. altimeter indicates higher altitude actual.
2. asi indicates airspeed greater actual airspeed.
3. vsi shows momentary climb , stabilizes if altitude held constant.
