Problem with a Toyota Avensis D4D T4 cutting out?

husbands 2006 avensis has started playing up, when slow down or stop cuts out.
in garage 2 days last week changed fuel pipe , filter, ok 1 day problems again. admitted didn't know if had solved problem.
has else either had similar problem or toyota mechanic , can help.
