Dorm vs. commuting to school?

i'm going senior in high school in fall. seems every 1 story hear living on campus, hear 3 or 4 bad ones. if commute, plan work through college @ home, if live on campus i'm going have quit. college want go has extremely bad reputation partying. i'm not that. 45 minute drive there , 45 minute drive back. advice?
