Functional laptop messenger bag?

commute college, , whole overloaded backpack , laptop bag deal getting old. on usual day i'll carrying 3 half inch/inch binders, 3 rather large texts, laptop w/power cord, among other things wallet , ipod. know i'll pretty breaking no matter get, i'd @ least , feel less of mess without crushing valuables. laptop messenger bag seemed best bet, other suggestions don't involve carrying less , saving spine welcome!
