1973 Beetle-- worth it?

recently, have been given opportunity work earn car-- 1973 volkswagen beetle (a standard, not super). think idea, looking other's opinions.

problems car:

-some rust on bumpers, fenders, , doors. rust on floorpan.
-needs new headliner.
-some insulation rubber cracked. paint (original yellow) fading.
plusses:

-recently overhauled stock 1600 engine.
-aftermarket empi speakers, shifter.


should new driver consider viable transportation option? appreciated! thanks, ben.
